The **Inspection Engineer** is responsible for supporting the Alliance Refinery through carrying out technical Mechanical Integrity assessments and as such assuring Fixed Equipment Asset Integrity.

**Responsibilities may include:**

+ Participates and promotes all aspects of the Refinery's safety programs. Visibly demonstrate commitment to workplace safety and the health of employees and contractors through personal engagement, direct communication and by setting a good example.
+ Studies problems involving corrosion or other forms of deterioration; exercises discretion and judgment in providing recommendations for repairs, changes, replacements which have direct impact on plant safety, economics and production capabilities.
+ Provides input to the Management of Change system regarding effects of changes in temperatures, pressures and corrosion rates and checks and/or perform design calculations of equipment to ensure safe operations.
+ Considers economic alternatives in making repair recommendations to produce the most cost-efficient design and repair methods within allowable constraints.
+ Carries out Fitness-for-Service assessments for deteriorated Fixed Equipment or design condition excursions. Carries out Fixed Equipment design condition re-rates.
+ Carries out Engineering evaluations for furnace heater tube remaining life, tank settlement, bolted flange joints and pipe stress analyses.
+ Determines need for and contracts outside services of contractors/design houses for detailed Engineering Analyses.
+ Designs, reviews and/or coordinates approval of on-stream repairs for Refinery Fixed Equipment and piping.
+ Provides leadership in progressing work on company Mechanical Integrity standards, industry practices and jurisdictional requirements where required.
+ Supports the evergreening of the Refinery's Inspection Data Management System for Fixed Equipment and piping.
+ Functions as the Refinery Committee Representative for review and approval of corporate Engineering Specifications Deviation Requests.
+ Functions as the Refinery representative for the Fixed Equipment Engineering Sub-Network.
+ Troubleshoots and supports definition of corrective action plans for plant operability and reliability issues where mechanical, metallurgical and/or corrosion-related issues arise.
+ Supports and/or leads incident investigations for Fixed Equipment related failures.
+ Has a working knowledge, applies and provides consultancy on pertinent industry Codes and Standards, especially ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, API 570/510/653/579 and other applicable Refinery Industry Codes and Standards.
+ Provides consultancy/technical mentorship to site Mechanical Engineers and develops and delivers critical skills training to the Mechanical Engineering group.



+ Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.S.)
+ 10 or more years of related work experience
+ Valid driver's license
+ Working knowledge in the fundamentals of Fitness for Service (API 579), Damage Mechanisms and Materials Selection in the Refinery sector
+ Proficient with standard computer applications that involve word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
+ Willing and able, with or without a reasonable accommodation, to climb a maximum of 200 feet, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
+ Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when in process units within the Refinery
+ Currently hold or can qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at -industry/twic . 10+ years related work experience


+ Professional Engineer status
+ Possesses API/ASME/AWS certifications
+ 10 or more years of technical experience related to Mechanical Integrity or Fixed Equipment initiatives within the Refining industry
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
+ Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of Mechanical Integrity problems
+ Computer proficient with applications such as SAP, PCMS, E2G PlantManager, PRG FEATools and CAESAR II
+ Incident investigation training
